Mayor Bill de Blasio has finally let us in on the big news; he is running for President of the United States.
Mayor Bill de Blasio officially announced this morning that he is seeking the Democratic Party's nomination for president of the United States in November 2020. There are currently 22 other Democrats already running.
De Blasio released aYouTube video today (comments disabled). He also did an interview on ABC’s Good Morning America. He is expected to speak to press this afternoon.
He also tweeted this out this morning.
It's been no secret that the Mayor was planning to run. In recent months he has campaigned/visited Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Nevada, and New Hampshire. He heads to Iowa and South Carolina again this weekend.
So now that it's official, what does this mean for New York City and its residents? A Quinnipiac poll from April showed 4 out of 5 New Yorkers think the mayor shouldn’t run. De Blasio has been Mayor of NYC since 2014. What do you think?
