MNN’s Media Education Department offers a variety of classes and workshops on video production that is primarily technical, but we also host a bi-monthly event that gives our producers a chance to talk about their show ideas and receive feedback. Producers may also ask for production support from their peers. This event is called MNN’s Mediamaker Meetup and the next one is on Wednesday, January 30th.
Each Mediamaker Meetup also features a special presentation lecture from an industry professional. The guest lecturer gives a one-hour presentation on a media-related topic. In the past, we have had such speakers as ABC veteran journalist Ron Claiborne discussing producing in the field, filmmaker Riley Hooper on her biographical documentaries, and producer and filmmaker Megan Smith-Harris on fundraising for video projects.
For the next Mediamaker Meetup, we are pleased to have Michael Rosenblum, a television producer, journalist, founder of NY Times Television, NY1's VJ-driven news operation, and TheVJ.com.
Mr. Rosenblum will discuss mobile journalism and the 5 shot method he designed for relaying efficient and compelling stories. The event is open to the public and we provide light refreshments. If you’re interested in attending, click here to register. It’s a great opportunity to network and meet fellow independent producers.
